The newest byway in Florida – the Scenic Sumter Heritage Byway – is featured in this Orlando Sentinel article. Dan McCormic is the chairman of the byway and has already been working on turning this roadway into a byway for four years. Towards the bottom of the article, you’ll see him mention the Florida Black Bear Scenic Byway…saying he is “looking for ways to flesh out the program” along the lines of the nearby Florida Black Bear Scenic Byway […] Black Bear has a web site, a press kit and even an app for smart phone users.”

Art Opening – DeLand

Gillespie Museum at Stetson University

The Gillespie Museum is a fascinating rock and mineral museum offering students of all ages and the community many educational opportunities pertaining to earth and environmental science. The geologic collection of over 15,000 minerals, rocks and fossils is one of the oldest and largest in the southeastern U.S. and is exhibited throughout the building in various cabinets as well as hands-on, interactive displays.

Welcome to the Trail

February was a big month for the Bartram Trail in Putnam County. Their new Bartram Trail kiosk was successfully installed by the river. Also, over 50 videos were posted on their youtube channel here: Bartram Trail in Putnam County YouTube Channel! In the video above Sam Carr and Dean Campbell welcome visitors to the Bartram Trail and invite you to follow them as they tour the 31 Bartram sites along the St. Johns River.

River of Lakes Heritage Corridor

Sailforth started rolling out video content for the River of Lakes Heritage Corridor YouTube channel. The website is currently underway as well and should be finished in the next few months. The videos being published to ROLHC’s youtube channel will later be condensed into a fully produced 30 minute video which will be on display at the Daytona Beach International Airport. SunRail Train Tours Downtown ORL

Central Floridians got to see the new SunRail train up close on November 2 and 3 at the Orlando Fall Fiesta in the Park. Hundreds came to see the train at LYNX Central Station as part of the event. For more information about SunRail, visit www.sunrail.com
