Sailforth Productions documents flooded areas of Little Wekiva River following widespread storm damage in Florida with aerial footage and photos

In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, which struck Florida in 2024, widespread damage and flooding impacted multiple regions across the state. Donoghue Construction Layout requested aerial surveying support – aerial photos and video. This trusted surveying firm offered Sailforth Productions the opportunity to support the project while they focused on recovery efforts at their facility.

Devo Engineering, a geotechnical engineering company, needed quick visual documentation of the flood-affected areas. Based on a proposed flight plan, drone operations were carried out from three locations near the Little Wekiva River.

The aerial footage provided to Devo Engineering offered clear visual evidence that the flooding was exacerbated by artificial changes to the river’s path. In particular, the video shows sharp turns near the power lines that were artificially created to redirect the flow. However, the storm forced water back toward its natural course—an older path that some had previously attempted to block off.
